Welcome to San Jose Permits On-line. This site has been developed to allow citizens and development customers to obtain a variety of information regarding proposed development for properties within the City of San Jose. It also allows registered users to submit permit applications, obtain simple development permits and schedule inspections. A summary of the functions you can perform at this site are provided below.

Issue Simple Permits - Homeowners and State-licensed contractors who have completed the on-line registration process with the City may apply for and issue permits simple permits over the Internet. A complete list of permits that can be self-administered is provided at this page (link - List of Permits Available).

Permit Searches - Anyone can search for permits or permit applications by the following:

•  Address
•  Assessor’s Parcel Number
•  Permit/Project number
•  Map Location

Once a specific permit is found, users can click on the permit number to view the specific information pertaining to the permit. This information includes detailed property information, permit application status, and the City staff person assigned to the project.

Track Permit Status - Registered users can view a list of all the projects they are associated with without having to query by each address or permit number. (link to registration page).

Map Queries (Map Help) - Users can locate and view active applications & permits by the following methods:

•  City Council District
•  Strong Neighborhood (SNI) Map
•  Within a defined radius from a specific property

Map Research - Users can select from a list of specialty maps to search for specific land use or geographic information pertaining a specific property or region within the City.

Submit Permit Applications - Registered applicants can submit permit applications over the Internet that require staff review and/or plan approval and issue the permit over the Internet once the application has been approved by staff. This function is under construction.

Schedule Inspections - Registered users can schedule inspections for permits that have been issued and are ready for inspection. (Link to registration page). This function is under construction.

Fee Estimates - Applicants can use this site to estimate the cost of permit fees for development projects. This function is under construction
